Drew Kirkley

MSN, APRN, AGNP-C • Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner
Helping people understand their health, identify what may be holding them back, and discover practical options for becoming the best version of themselves.

My approach to wellness starts with a simple belief: the human body works as one connected system.

Sleep, metabolism, hormones, muscle, mitochondrial energy, cardiovascular health, stress, nutrition, recovery, and inflammation all influence one another. My job is to help connect those dots and make the science understandable.

Nurse Practitioner University Nursing Professor Health Educator Founder of KirkleyCare

Clinician. Educator. Lifelong Student of Health.

Medicine provides the tools. Education helps people understand how to use them.

I am an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and university nursing professor with experience caring for adults across a wide range of health conditions.

My clinical background gives me an appreciation for traditional medicine and the importance of identifying disease, managing risk, and using evidence-based treatment when it is needed.

At the same time, teaching nursing has reinforced something equally important: people make better decisions when they understand what is happening inside their own body.

The Clinician

As a nurse practitioner, I evaluate health history, symptoms, medications, risk factors, laboratory information, and the larger clinical picture.

The goal is to recognize when a symptom needs medical evaluation while also looking for opportunities to improve function and overall health.

The Educator

As a nursing professor, I spend a large part of my career explaining complicated physiology in ways that people can actually understand.

I bring that same teaching approach into wellness: explain the biology, explain the options, discuss the evidence, and help people make informed decisions.

Why KirkleyCare?

Because health rarely improves by focusing on only one pathway

I became increasingly interested in the space between treating disease and building better health.

Many people are not necessarily looking for someone to diagnose a new disease. They are saying:

“I want more energy.”
“I want to lose weight.”
“I want to recover better.”
“I want to think more clearly.”
“I want to feel like myself again.”
“I want to stay healthy as I get older.”

Those goals often involve several systems at once.

KirkleyCare was created to provide a place where those goals can be explored through physiology, education, lifestyle, metabolic health, medications, recovery strategies, and other appropriate tools.

Who Is the Typical KirkleyCare Patient?

Usually someone who is ready to participate in their own health

The Patient

The typical patient is someone who has a goal and is willing to put in the work required to reach it.

They may want to lose weight, improve metabolic health, have more energy, recover from an injury, preserve muscle, improve sleep, support healthy aging, improve sexual wellness, or simply feel better.

They do not have to be perfect.

They just need to be willing to learn, participate, make changes, and take ownership of the process.

My Role

My role is not to promise a transformation or do the work for someone.

My role is to help identify options, opportunities, and levers that may move the system in the right direction.

That might involve nutrition, exercise, sleep, metabolic health, medications, recovery strategies, laboratory evaluation, or other targeted interventions.

Then we decide which levers make sense for that individual.

“You are the one doing the work and achieving the goal. My job is to help you understand the options and identify the levers you can pull to help get there.”

There Is Rarely Just One Lever

Better health usually comes from changing several inputs in the right direction

Every person has a different combination of strengths, limitations, health history, goals, and opportunities.

Some of the levers we may consider include:

Sleep
Nutrition
Protein Intake
Movement
Strength Training
Body Composition
Metabolic Health
Stress & Recovery
Hormonal Health
Medications
Supplements
Targeted Therapies
The Best Lever Is the One That Addresses the Actual Bottleneck. Someone who sleeps five hours per night may need a different strategy than someone who sleeps eight hours but has poor metabolic health. Personalized wellness means figuring out which factors matter most for the person in front of us.

My Philosophy

Give people better information, better options, and a clearer path forward

The Patient Owns the Goal

Your goals belong to you. My job is not to decide what your version of health should look like.

My job is to understand what you want to accomplish and help identify realistic ways to move toward it.

Options Instead of Promises

Health care is rarely certain enough for guarantees. What we can do is understand the evidence, discuss potential benefits and risks, and decide which options are reasonable.

Foundations Before Optimization

Sleep, nutrition, movement, muscle, metabolic health, and recovery remain the foundation.

Advanced therapies should support that foundation—not replace it.

Education Creates Better Decisions

I want patients to understand why we are considering something, what pathway it affects, what the evidence actually shows, and what limitations still exist.

How I Approach Personalized Wellness

Start with the person—not the product
1

Define the Goal

What are you actually trying to accomplish?

2

Understand the System

Look at the factors that may be helping or limiting progress.

3

Choose the Levers

Identify practical interventions that fit the person and goal.

4

Adjust as You Go

Measure response, learn from it, and change the plan when needed.

Why I Care About This

Helping people improve their health is the part of medicine I enjoy most

I am genuinely passionate about health, physiology, and the ways people can improve how they feel and function.

I enjoy learning about new research, understanding how different biological systems interact, and finding ways to translate that information into something useful for real people.

But the most rewarding part is seeing someone take ownership of their health and accomplish something that matters to them.

Maybe that means losing weight they have struggled with for years. Maybe it means getting stronger. Recovering from an injury. Having enough energy to be active with their family. Feeling more confident. Sleeping better. Or simply understanding their body better than they did before.

Those wins belong to the patient.

You Do the Work. You Earn the Result.

I am here to help you understand your health, identify what may be limiting you, and give you evidence-informed options and practical levers to pull along the way.

My goal is to help you become the best version of you.
